Music

Research has found that learning music/dance facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas. Music/dance participation provides a unique opportunity for literacy preparation . Whether the children are singing , playing or listening, teachers direct them to listen and hear in new ways which exercise their aural discrimination. Plato once said that “music is a more potent instrument than any other for education” . Recent research has found that music uses both sides of the brain.

Music / Dance can be described as a sport. Learning to sing or learning the dancing steps, keep rhythm develops coordination. Learning music and dance is very helpful in flourishing the emotions of the children. These skills are the child’s vehicle of expression. We, at TCDAV PS believe that music and dance play a vital role in personality development of students.

These skills help an academic system in following ways :

  1. Music learning supports all learning.
  2.  Growing up in a musically rich environment is often advantageous for children’s language development.
  3.  As per neuroscience research , children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than children not in music training.
  4. These skills come in to play in solving multiple problems one could encounter in architecture , engineering , maths , art  and especially working with computer.
  5. These skills  help students to concentrate on specific goal to perform well in academic sphere.
  6. Music / Dance act as essential form of physical exercise by different body organs like playing table , keyboard , steps of classical dance forms . The air and wind power necessary to blow a flute , trumpet or saxophone promotes a healthy body.

TCDAV PS , provides ample opportunities to students to participate in different events / competitions based on  vocal , instrumental and classical / folk dances . Our Music & Dance department  is working for excellence under the able guidance and leadership of Mrs. Yoshita Rathore & Mrs. Archana Sinha (Incharge of cultural committee).
